Mission and Path of Enlightenment
The Grand National Lodge of Serbia continues the bright tradition of spreading Masonic light. This tradition was carried forward by a generation of esteemed Masonic Brothers. They were led by Grand Master Brother Đorđe Vajfert and worked under the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia until its suspension in 1940, in the face of the approaching Nazi threat.
The Grand National Lodge of Yugoslavia was formed in 1997 in the territory of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. A large group of Brothers from the Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia, reawakened in 1990, founded it with the wholehearted help and recognition of the Grand Lodge of France. As the name of the state changed, this Grand Lodge changed its name twice by law. It became first the Grand National Lodge of Serbia and Montenegro, and then the Grand National Lodge of Serbia – VNLS.
The lodges of the VNLS work according to the Scottish Rite, Ancient and Accepted. Their mutual relations are regulated by the “Concordat”. Under this agreement, the VNLS cooperates with the Supreme Council of Serbia. This council is the only regular and internationally recognized successor to the SUPREME COUNCIL OF SERBIA of 1912 within our country.

In the Wake of the Past

First Light
Establishment of the first lodges in the territory of present-day Serbia under the influence of the European Enlightenment.
Grand Lodge of Yugoslavia
Official formation of the independent Grand Lodge, solidifying the brotherhood's identity in the region.
Resumption of activities
Return of the light after decades of forced dormancy, restoration of the temple and tradition.
