The spring equinox, the twentieth day of the month of March, traditionally carries the symbolism of renewal, new beginnings, and balance. In the Masonic Lodge, this event is given an additional dimension through the ritual work that takes place in the Temple, and one such significant ritual was held in the “Hiram” Respected Lodge of the Požarevac Orient. On this day, the Lodge witnessed an important event: the initiation of a new Brother. This work not only marked the Brother’s entry into the Fraternal Chain, but was also an opportunity to reflect on the fundamental principles of Freemasonry and their significance in the context of nature’s springtime awakening.This wonderful event in the temporary temple of the VNLS in Belgrade was graced by dear Brothers, the Most Worshipful and Very Masonic Brother Bratislav Uraković, esteemed Grand Officers, as well as Worshipful Masters from numerous federal lodges.After the initiation ritual, which was organized in a fabulous and magnificent manner by the officer team of P.L. “Hiram,” according to all those present, the Orator of the aforementioned lodge, Brother Lj.S. , delivered a fitting and heartfelt speech, reflecting on the symbolism of the journey the newly initiated Apprentice had undergone. He emphasized the importance of the trials, the reward that followed, and the trust that had been placed in him. Special emphasis was placed on the invaluable value of secrecy in Freemasonry, as the foundation of the Brotherhood’s trust and integrity. Brother Orator also delivered a brief speech on the importance of the proper walk in an open Lodge, offering advice especially to the newly initiated Apprentice. The proper walk symbolizes thoughtfulness and dignity in the work and life of every Freemason. At the request of the Worshipful Master, Brother W.M., with the assistance of M.W.W.M. Bratislav Uraković, demonstrated the proper walk.At the request of the Warden, Brothers from the visiting Worshipful Lodges rose to speak: Brother S.J. P.L. “Dunav” conveyed greetings from the Orient of Novi Sad and thanked the Brothers of W.L. “Hiram” for extending the Brotherhood’s chain; the Worshipful Master of W.L. “Probitas,” Brother A.N., expressed congratulations for the idea of joint building and wished Brother B.Ž. effective construction; the Worshipful Master of P.L. “Mihajlo Pupin,” Brother B.Ć. , emphasized the fact that the newly initiated Brother is accountable to his two sponsors, which carries a special weight and obligation. The Grand Secretary of the VNLS, Brother M.V. from the P.L. “Prince Mihailo,” addressed the gathering, emphasizing his personal connection with the founders of the P.L. “Hiram.” The Grand Host of the VNLS, Brother M.G., expressed his satisfaction with the large number of Brothers from the VNLS federal lodges in attendance and congratulated the newly initiated Brother, as well as the P.L. “Hiram,” on their contribution to the expansion of the Brotherhood.The Venerable Master of the host Lodge “Hiram,” Brother D.P., concluded that this Ritual work once again confirms the strength of the Brotherhood and is a source of pride for all, emphasizing that the expansion of the brotherly chain is the primary goal of Freemasonry, and that the very Brothers are the stones for this construction.In the concluding part of the ritual work, MUVM Bratislav Uraković addressed the importance of first impressions and of recognizing a Freemason in the newly initiated Brother B.Ž. during the initial contact. He welcomed him to the VNLS, emphasizing the importance of obedience, order, and respect for the Worshipful Master, the Most Worshipful and Inaugural Grand Master, as well as for all other Brethren. He particularly emphasized that alongside the Three Pillars – Wisdom, Strength, and Beauty – is the equally important pillar of Spirituality, which radiates great power despite being invisible. He reflected on the strong Egregor that was felt that evening as a testament to unity and dedication. He praised the contribution of P.L. “Hiram,” especially at the Summit of Obediences in Smederevo, whose theme was the past, announcing future events dedicated to the present and the future. In the end, he expressed great gratitude to all his Brothers for their contribution to the building of the VNLS.The evening continued with a traditional Agape Feast in the Temple’s atrium, whose festive ambiance reflected the sublimity and aristocratic purity of this mystical community. With gracious hospitality, the Brothers continued the exchange of ideas in a spirit of brotherhood, wisdom, and mutual upliftment. The work held in the Respected Lodge “Hiram” on the spring equinox was a solemn and significant event, marked by an initiation. The symbolism of spring’s awakening and new beginnings perfectly intertwined with the initiation into the Order of Freemasons. The ritual work, marked by the noble act of initiation, remains etched in the vaults of time as a sublime example of the dedication, strength, and steadfastness of Freemasonry in Serbia.
