The Grand Master's Word

Dear brothers, esteemed seekers of truth,

The Grand National Lodge of Serbia (VNLS) is a confederation of respected Lodges, in which Brothers are Freemasons who work in the interest of their country and love their people, without this being in conflict with their membership of the Fraternity. A traditional hallmark of the Grand National Lodge of Serbia (GNLS) is its recognition as a school of the symbols, allegories and mysteries of Freemasonry, embodied in the SCOTTISH RITE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED, which is an inexhaustible source of the individual’s continual improvement, thereby enhancing themselves and their community.

The Grand National Lodge of Serbia today comprises around 30 respected Lodges, in which Brothers build upon the symbolic degrees from the first to the third. The Lodges are spread throughout Serbia, so the Fraternal chain of several hundred Brothers is exceptionally strong and continues to expand.

As followers of French-speaking Freemasonry, our model is the Grand Lodge of France (www.gldf.org) as the mother Lodge from which we draw experience and our guiding principles, and we strive to justify our role as a beacon by spreading the Light of Freemasonry in the Balkans.

I will endeavour not to use the hammer for ‘nails’ when problems arise, but rather to weather all things with the Brothers and never deviate from the Path that has been set for us. We, the Freemasons of the Grand National Lodge of Serbia, in our Lodge, honour our Ordinance, Statute and Constitution as the strictest Masonic rules, for we advocate Order and Work.

We perform our ritual workings with the open Book of the Sacred Law, for us the Bible, and always open at the Gospel of Saint John, for he is our patron. This is the 21st century, so with the utmost respect for the original principles of Freemasonry, i will adapt the organisation for the modern man. The new Masonic reality is here and it must be recognised and put to work for spiritual and moral progress.
